  • Food Lion
  • Eckerd
  • Farm Fresh

** Don't forget to record these transactions in your check register!**

DORMANT ACCOUNTS

The Virginia Unclaimed Property Act states that if there are no transactions on an account for FIVE consecutive years, we must turn the money in the account over to the State. Your credit union sends out letters to those members whose accounts have been dormant for one year. Please make a transaction (deposit or withdrawal at our offices) of any amount to your account now so it will not be closed in this manner!

The Difference Between DEBIT or CREDIT

It's time to pay for groceries at the supermarket. You tell the cashier you're paying with your Visa Check Card (debit card). He then asks, ''DEBIT or CREDIT?''

Ever wonder why you're asked this question? The merchant is simply asking how you would like the transaction to be processed.

No matter how you respond-''DEBIT'' or ''CREDIT'', the purchase will deduct from your checking account. In other words, if you say ''CREDIT'', the purchase will NOT be billed to a credit card.

What is the difference?

DEBIT CREDIT
Processed through ATM NETWORK Processed through VISA NETWORK
You can get cash back from your available checking account balance up to the merchant's limit. You will then see the cash back amount added to the total purchase price to get the grand total for the transaction.
You must sign to authorize the sale.
You must use a personal identification number (PIN) to authorize the sale.

Visa transactions are more efficient and less costly than ATM transactions. You can help save your Credit Union money by choosing CREDIT instead of Debit.

As a financial cooperative, any cost savings we experience are returned to our members in the form of lower loan rates, higher dividend rates and new and improved products and services.

If you don't need to get cash back-choose CREDIT.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROCEDURES FOR OPENING A NEW ACCOUNT

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, federal law requires that all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account.

What this means for you:

When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.

If you presently have an account with us and you open additional accounts, add joint owners to an existing account or apply for a loan, we must also verify and retain copies of your identification.

We ask for your understanding as we work to support these efforts to maintain the security of your funds and our country.
